Blaser R8

Hi there everyone,

I'm looking on some advice on converting a right handed R8 to left hand. Apart from a LH bolt being needed, I was thinking more about the stocks and metal work.

Are there any combinations that won't work?

Will the metal work fit all stock types?

Any help is much appreciated. I'm just trying to save a little on buying a brand new one if I can.

Thanks all

As far as I am aware the bolt head can be specified for left ejection or right ejection. The pro success stock is left/right handed but the standard professional stock is ambidextrous. Not sure about the metal inside the stock but suspect that also will be ambidextrous.

R8 professional stock- ambidextrous
R8 professional success stock - handed
R8 stock metalwork - universal
R8 bolt housing - handed
R8 Bolt - handed
Professional Trigger/magazine: fits professional or professional success stock (looks a bit weird on Pro Success)
Professional success trigger/magazine: only fits professional success stock.

If you’re converting RH professional to LH, then it’s just bolt (calibre group specific) and bolt housing.

Edinburgh Rifles usually carry a good selection allowing you to mix and match to make the stock you want.

If you’re after a strong rigid stock, and you’re “building” from components, consider Raven carbon stocks from @Lateral on here. Very high quality, very rigid, beautifully made. You can also get metalwork for the stock from @Lateral, meaning all you need to buy is a barrel, bolt housing and bolt head.

Pm me if none of this makes sense or you want to call to chat through the confusing (and expensive!) world of R8 ownership.

Cracking rifles, you won’t be disappointed

This is outstanding. Thank you very much for all this information. It will be a great help. I had just missed out on an R8 as I was a little undecided. Now I realise what a mistake that was. I've been a big fan for some time and will hopefully be a proud owner soon.

Thanks again 👍🏼

No worries. The R8 is a cracking rifle. R93 is still a cracking rifle. Considerably slimmer than an R8 and a bit lighter. No removable trigger/magazine though
