Boot care and why I can't be arsed...

I find either 'cleaning regime' works well !

makers who dont say how to maintain , get what they deserve ! Complaints , refund requests and hassle . These lead to loss of the brand status / reputation
Customers who don't listen and ask also suffer the same fate
I quit Lecham as their product was degraded a lot. Harkila where utter junk leaking and worn out well withing 1 year . Dedito over 12 months and perfect but then the guy that owns the brand took me through how to look after them and what to use . I think i have re-done that 3 times now takes 10 mins

I left mine outside to dry off a bit after I went out the other week. One thunderstorm later they were cleaner than they had been in years.

Just needed a bit of newspaper in them for a day to actually dry out. Inside the house this time mind you.

Just today been and checked out my le chameau boots in my cabin, drying out since February.so getting ready for next season. Good news and bad. Good news could of had mushrooms for tea. Bad news £ 3-50 for a tin of Cherry Blossom dark tan polish.

When I started as a partridge keeper (all on foot) we got a new pair of Hoggs slightly sprung boots.
We immersed them. In a container of neatsfoot oil for a week. No other treatment, but in those days we got a new suit and new boots every year.

I thought my boots wear in very good condition as they were ten years old and I was still shooting in them through winter, I invested in a new pair the same make, model and size… the difference was striking!

Don't start.

I know.

I am a terrible human being (especially) when it comes to caring for my Stalking boots.

What's your boot regime?
I bought two pairs at the same time, so I could rotate (one drying while using the other).

I decided to experiment. One pair received a very intensive care regime. Thorough cleaning, slow air drying, re waxing etc etc.

The other got the worst of the muck hosed off and was left to dry next to the radiator on full.

The pair that got the full regime started leaking sooner, by about 7 months.
