Wanted: British Airways Bad enough now even worse.

Back in April a group of us booked and paid for flights with British Airways to Zagreb for a driven Boar trip in November.
We have recently been advised by BA that they are suspending flights to Zagreb from 25th October 2025 to 26 March next year so our flights are cancelled.
Quick enough to inform us of that but still waiting for refund of cash paid.
However thought us, not to worry we'll travel with KLM, a bit of a long winded procedure via Schipol airport with long breaks in between but at least we will still be going.
No No No ! KLM have just informed me that Heathrow has an embargo on Firearms travelling through their airport so although KLM are wiling to carry firearms there is no way of getting them on the plane :( No longer a member of the EU so driving is now out of the question because of all the borders having to stop at now.
So, has anybody any idea how to get to Zagreb with Firearms ? any advice would be appreciated.

Quick look online shows that BA fly to Zagreb from LGW so see if they’ll swap your tickets over - LGW have always been very sensible with firearms in my experience.

Looks like easyJet & Turkish Airlines also fly to Zagreb from LGW.

Manchester to Frankfurt to Zagreb on Lufthansa is one route

Newcastle via Schipol to Zagreb

are two that I have used in the last two or three years.

It seems that LHR have been deliberately obstructive to anyone travelling with guns for long enough to make the airlines give up on it.
It's not the Airlines that have given up on it, The airlines will still carry firearms it is getting it to the aeroplane that is the problem. Heathrow authority has given up, mind you, travelling through Heathrow with firearms has always been a balls ache, it's never been the same procedure every time I've travelled through. Each handler has their own idea of what is supposed to happen.

Flew to SA in February from Heathrow with BA.

Had no dramas at all.

Took about 45mins for the courier to arrive at the check in desk and cleared border force in less than an hour including going through border control.

Return trip was equally pain free

I flew Manchester to Zagreb via Munich with Lufthansa in 2023, it was very smooth (including via Munich where I never touched a bag.)

Some forums said you needed a transfer permit for Germany but I didn't get one and it was fine

Sounds like bow locks. The firearms never come into your Possession in Munichs Strauss airport, the handlers just move them across to the designated destination. Been through that airport maybe a few hundred times.

Could well be, when they told me I didn't need to 'self transfer' it made my mind up I definitely didn't need one
