Broody Hen Pheasant...

Went for a ride in the CAT pulling down a field of cut peas, looking around waiting for my lift and there she was sitting very still on a late brood of eggs. I marked the spot with a bag I had with me so as we came back he went around her and she moved enough to see 8 eggs.
He is coming tomorrow for a first go at deer skinning, chunk the spaniel is a happy lad. A good view from the cab but not my first choice as I would rather be fixing something than bouncing up and down in the cab.
Glad I saw her as the nest would have been done for!

Last week my brother harrowed one of his horse paddocks with a small bump of weed growth in the middle and snagged a hen pheasant on eggs, the three survivors he cleaned up and made a nest, low and behold the hen bird was back the same day and is now laying additional eggs, really resilient little birds with a horse proof fence around her now to help hopefully some chicks on its way, 👍
