Bumper acorn crop on the way

I thought it was just in our area but having been in Yorkshire and Devon over the last week or so there seem to be a potentially huge crop of acorns and also the beech mast appears good. Will make for some good pigeon/squirrel shooting and the rape shooters will be complaining about the lack of pigeon, cause they will be in the woods.

Also I expect some of our pheasant shooters/keepers may have their work cut out preventing birds straying.

Am I correct in thinking Fallow are fond of acorns?

Wild boar love them too will make it a bit harder to feed them out of the woods for shooting, but is this a sign of a bad winter to come?

Brilliant for the Muntjac in my woods. Its the heaviest I have seen it.Wf1

Well if a little later in the year, when the undergrowth dies back a bit, you need any help saving the acorns, please feel free to let me know! I wonder if a diet of acorns has the same effect on venison as it does on pork? Essentially, are acorn-fed munties fattier and tastier? Only one way to find out!

Bumper mast year this season after two poor years.

rake them up and bag em for later in the winter
