Call from O2 Billing Department

Just had a call on my mobile, which is with O2, from 0333 303 4863 from "O2 Billing Department" wanting to discuss my bill and offer a special limited 40% discount. Wow! Who doesn't love a bargain! Except when I asked "If you are O2 can you please tell me the bill payer's name you are calling?" they then hung up. Oh dear. So I guess it wasn't O2 at all but what it sounded like from the outset...another spamming or phishing call from India.

had the same yesterday, then some one in pakistan tried to access my email account, i guess they were trying to speed up the savings, very helpful

I owe the " Royal mail " so much money for undelivered parcels my grandkids will be paying it off .

I get these fairly regularly. The fact that my number originates from O2 might have something to do with it. But I have changed providers more than once since.
So I tend to play along a little. It usually blows their minds when I say how do I apply this to my EE account then?

I never bother to answer calls from numbers that aren’t already stored in my phone - if they’re genuine they’ll leave a message which I can listen to & call back if I need to.

I love my Google phone, it has call screening so you can interact with the caller using an AI" robot voice" that asks them questions and shows you their answer as text. Of course, they never even get as far as taking to it before they hang up.
