With regard to CCI primers.
I have almost run out of CCI no. 400 primers for my 222.
I have a couple of hundred cci BR-4
small rifle primers.
Is there a difference ?.

Theoretically yes. In practice you may not see any difference. Its the norm to "build" up your load again if changing a variable. In my experience a change of primer can sometimes see a change in fps but not by very much. Who knows - your BR4`s may shoot smaller groups!

cock all...
apart from price they are allegedly more consistent and have a slightly harder/thicker cup

I switched to magnum SRP in my .222 as I was given 5000
made no difference to my load, group or velocity

20.8hr N133 under 60gr SP in Sako .222

Unless you are running ragged edge pressure in your loads switching primers makes next to no difference
We have proof pressure data for identical Fox Classic Hunter factory ammo where the only component chage was primer from CCI, to Federal to Magtech.
The PMax and Extreme Spread is not significantly different between any of them
And thats with a 105% compressed load of N135 under 150gr .308 (pressure is still WAAAAY off max with the compression)

When I had my 6mm Br I used 450 magnums.I also use br4's for my .204...you can guess what happened.
I reloaded for the .204 with the 450's,used them rounds no difference in ballistics, pressure & face, fingers still intact.
Don't have the 6mm now or 450 primers so it can't happen again in one of my senior " moments"😵‍💫

Cambridge Gun club have LP or had them this week £150 per K.
Tbh iv seen no real change on using Magtech with running out of Fed215m
