CDSG. Customer service

Ordered Redding bushes end of November, knew they where on back-order. Acknowledgement of order with ETA of Jan 31, tracking number yesterday, out for delivery today. Given the current situation being a week late is no big deal.

Well, I like to speak as I find.
A little while ago, rather than selling some redding 22-250 Ackley type S competition seater dies as they’re an absolute fortune new. I decide to convert them to standard 22-250 Remington. This require the acquisition of new sliding sleeves and bullet seater stem etc. and at the same time I also got the equivalent parts to use for 7mm-08 .
I originally approached redding in the USA to find out if these parts were available and having confirmed that they were, they pointed me in the direction of a US company who could supply them to me.
As you can imagine these aren’t standard of the shelf parts. I asked the US supplier for a quote and at the same time, following a quick google search, I also contacted CDSG ltd in the U.K. for a quote, as they were listing one of the part numbers and as wherever I can, I’d rather use a U.K. supplier.
To cut to the chase, CDSG Ltd put in quite a bit of effort, involving a few emails, ensuring that we had all of the correct part numbers. Their quote was, by the time you took shipping into account, reasonably comparable. And they quoted sixteen weeks delivery.
I placed the order on the 8th of October 2020, which by my reckoning would mean that delivery should be around the end of January beginning of February 2021.
An email last Friday instigated an immediate automated email response followed within fifty minutes by a personal email to say that they were unpacking their shipment and the items would be dispatched early this week.
I then had an email on Monday, along with a tracking number, to say that the items had been dispatched and the items were delivered this morning. All correct and in order.
As far as my experience is concerned, CDSG ltd took care to ensure the order was correct, quoted a realistic lead time for parts which were out of the ordinary, subsequently delivered them within a reasonable time frame, given the current situation, and communicated adequately and accurately.
What more do you want, I’ll be using them again.

I was talking to an importer yesterday and they said lead times of shooting items from the USA has gone from eight to ten weeks to treble that and that is even if they can be bothered to supply at this time.

Patience is a virtue.

I have had countless orders with CDSG and I’ve always had really good service from them. Items that are in stock take 2 days to arrive. Items that go on back order, well I sort of accept when I place the order that they are at the mercy of American suppliers so their hands are tied to a degree. I’ve had stuff turn up in 2 weeks or 2 months. But I have always received it. I currently have a back order with them now placed in early December. I can’t speak for their customer service of late (it used to be pretty good) and it sounds like it might have deteriorated a bit but I’m happy to sit tight and wait for my stuff to (hopefully!) arrive.

As has been mentioned, there is nothing coming out of the US right now, reloading items have been bought up and demand is way outstripping supply. I knew this when I placed the order and expected a longer than normal wait. I’m sure this will be playing a major part in the extended delays.

I hope everyone gets sorted out.

cheers
Greg

I ordered on the 20th October some Redding dies in 7.5 Swiss and they have no arrived yet. In this new world order I will sit tight and wait as everything I have ordered from them in the past has turned up.
I work in transport and customers are not getting things when they want and have been used to anymore. Getting containers in from the states is a nightmare and we have orders for goods we dont know when we will get cleared and located for dispatch.
I sympathise with them and will be patient.
Goods arrived today so my comments above stand.

I sympathise with anyone in this predicament reference deliveries, but don’t lie, as you work in transport have you closed down the main means of communication, or do you liaise with you clients. Websites can be a great way to do it, a good business is one that communicates when things go wrong.
but I am not going to spend my date taking to the countless people who have posted, especially as it wasn’t my thread. Have a good day 👍
Thanks for your input. I was not replying to you but to the thread. I do not lie. I work in transport not sales and I spell it out as it is.
I was patient and waited and did not pester and now have my goods so it was a good day.

Sorry I wasn’t meaning you lie, I was talking about the company, supplying me, please accept my apology for the misunderstanding, but my goods are on the way now, looks like Royal Mail slight delay

Ordered a Lee part which they showed as having 3 in stock on Sunday evening. Tracking number received on Monday, part landed Tuesday. The part was cheaper than anywhere else and not available elsewhere. Bought some casting kit for a lockdown project and again the best price, in stock and carriage included.

Used CDSG before without problems, but admit to being a little concerned following some of the earlier posts.

Placed an order Wednesday, arrived this morning without incident. 👍🏻
Placed order at end of October, when the lead time was about a month. Last week it was expected April 19th. Tonight it's expected May 10th.

They haven't given me an update, I just looked at the products on their website and they are now due to get it delivered in May. That's slipped a month since I looked a few weeks ago.

I've had superb service from them this last week. Ordered bullets, they arrived within a couple of days. Then ordered a replacement neck expander for a Lee die yesterday, and it arrived today!
Good for you, there are many many people paid up (for orders) and waiting at various establishments (hence these "Retailers" are funded on the cheap) I don't think many would be around if it was a supply/demand rather than a demand/supply as it is now, but that's the supply storey (or so people say). An order I know about went from December (ordered and paid for £500 for Jan delivery) now to May delivery and still not showing, and another I personally have gets extended two weeks every two weeks, at this rate its Christmas delivery. Its not the fault of the retailer who I may add is just an IDB, and lucky you if they have it in stock as well, but when some retailers get stock, they cancel your original order (pre-empting), re-instate a week later their website at vastly inflated prices, I have had that twice, as I said whilst be funded for.."0"% its a no brainer, it will level out ... in ten years...

After months of waiting for an order, I cancelled it by email and asked for a refund, no refund or reply
Repeated emails no answers no refund
A member on here kindly gave me the mobile number of Mark the owner only after message to him did I get
A refund
I shouldn't need to chase up a refund, poor customer service at the very least , they must be doing very well in business if they can afford to alienate customers in this way

I have to say iv used CDSG quite a bit if recent, and I find them competitive and have always had excellent service from them

it was hinted at today by a rfd that cdsg might be in financial difficulty and as i have a back order with them i may lose my money will i be able to cancel the order .cdsg say no to cancelling a back order but not sure if its legal for them to hold my money as they have not supplied the paid for goods.

Hi ashray
It probably is illegal for them to hold your money back , you can shot and rant all you like but at the end of the day if they still hold your money if you can't back charge them through a credit card you have to take them to small claims court , then even if you win then they go into administration, I doubt if you will see any money
