any ideas on semi decent binos for around £100 student budget and all! I could push to £200. Ideally I'd like new as I need to save up for them :)

Minox seem to really perform well on the price/performance graph - you get a lot of bang for your buck. Given that I'd certainly take a look at them. I don't know if you will get a pair for £100 but £200 should be more than enough. I believe Minox advertise on this forum so click on their advert and get in touch and see if someone can help you out.

Get yourself a pair of bushnell hd 10x42. If you look properly you will get a pair under £200 mate

they are excellent against any £800 pair

I got myself a pair of hawke nature trek (im sure they are...) 10x50 at the gamefair, no complaints so far!

I bought a pair of Barr and Stroud 10x42's, and for about £80 are excellent...nothing like the "big boys" mind you..., but with a ten year guarantee, waterproof and fogproof, they aint too bad at all..only one thing tho, my next pair will be 8x42, as I found a wee bit of "shake" at long distance ....but, still great for the money..:) I realise they are probs chinese, but still great value IMHO...

Using a pair of 8x42 Minox bought new off fleabay for £125, good enough for me, although I am sure that the more expensive kit would edge it over these at first/last light. Happily my (hill) stalking doesn't involve much of this at all.

Another vote for opticron. Also had a look through a pair of Vortex yesterday, very good for the money and start at £100 on the nose.

Minox BV 8 x 42 are awesome value for money and have a 5 year warranty. Have a look on Amazon. I got some for £149.99 and they are pretty much as good as my Swaro's optically, but they are smaller, lighter and even focus closer than them! You'll not be disappointed.

Youll pick a pair of bushnell legend ultra hd up for 200... Well impressed with them and that's coming from a top shelf Zeiss & leica user

minox if you can stretch to them if not opticron , oasis model for around £100 IMO better than Bushnell , I have had both.

Have you had the new Ultra HD Legends? They are £500 bins, magnesium chasis, nitrogen purged and can be had if you look hard enough for £200.. they are not the cheap and cheerful Bushnells.. I had a pai of £1k minox HGs between my Geovids and Zeiss Victory RFs and the Bushnells are on a par with them!

No to be honest I have never had a pair of the more expensive Bushnell's, but the cheap Opticrons our perform the cheap Bushnells. The OP was looking for a cheap pair of binos thats why I mentioned the Opticron Oasis which can be had for about a £100 Iif you shop around, they are good usable binos with far better glass than you would expect for that sort of money, now I am sure that they could not compete with a £500 pair of binos, nor would you expect them to but the OP does not have that kind of money, you say you can pick them up for £200 thats a massive discount if correct but even then £200 for the OP was an absolute max. ideally he wants to spend £100 personally I would have suggested s/h but he wants new. I don't thing comparing a £100 pair of binos with a £500 pair is a fair comparison, a better test might be to compare them with a higher specification pair of Opticrons they have a high end pair coming in at just over £600 but again of little use to the OP ,

If you are really strapped keep an eye out in charity shops.I got a half decent pair I can leave in my vehicle for the partridge count for a fiver

I'm keen on minox too. I have 8x42 for woodland and have used minox 10X42 on the hill. In my opinion they are comparable to German optics costing £100s more.
