Cleaning advice needed

Thank you everyone! Whatever advise you take from this on cleaning frequency, it’s clear that I am doing it wrong!

I will try several of the methods described above and find out what works for me!

Not removing the brush every time with save quite a bit of time on its own!!

Can I just ask, some have mentioned running an oiled patch down the barrel before storage (I shoot once every 2 weeks or so) but state you have to dry patch before the next use. Does the oil make that much difference? Does it not simply burn off after the first shot?

I’m assuming that it’s ‘lubricating’ the bullet so reducing the effectiveness of the rifling?

What does the meths do? Degrease?

I will report back!

Has anyone seen these products for sale in the U.K. ? A friend of mine in Canada shooting PRS , where they obsess over clean barrels, recommended this to me. CLR, caustic lime remover is a second best. It certainly removes carbon.

Meths is essential if you put oil in the barrel ( you wont remove oil with a patch) at best the first round through will be off ! Dont ever substitute meths for white sprit it will create rusting . Oiling a clean bore prevents condensation induced rusting . When you bring a gun from outside on a cold or damp day into the home condensation can / will form in the bore
shooting an oiled bore will raise pressures ( maybe a lot) but it will be dumb luck if that shot lands on zero
