Convince me....chillers...

Chillers are like gun cabinets. Always buy a much bigger one than you think you'll need!

You really don't want to be cramming carcasses into a limited space. They need to have air circulating freely around them, and not be touching each other, the walls, or the floor.

Would it make sound like a hater? If I said that red carcass looks no where near the weight you claim 🤔
You are a hater also good at disrupting other peoples threads.
When I am there next I will get a copy of the Weight Ticket from
Ben Rigby's off Jane in the office, she is digging out at the moment but no point in telling you as you are a hater lol
By the way the fallow in the other picture were around 35kg (but you would know that)

@Sheamus I must confess I did round up the 121.6kg to 122kg as Jane just kindly just confirmed the ticket weight.
Please go back to hating and disrupting threads as you are better at that than Red Deer weight's

Until then :tiphat:

Soz Tim If ive offended you by my last posting.
But feel free to private message me with the weights slip if it makes you feel better. Save derailing a good topic.

Thanks for the views so far. I've had a look at a few options in the last few days. A single Foster won't cut it - too small. A double, possibly, but I hate it when deer hang with their necks on the floor so I'm now looking for a second hand panelled chiller and will have to make some additional space for it. At least then I won't have any worries over capacity or hanging height. Looks like I should be able to get one for a similar price to a double fridge anyway. Found something about 2m x 1.2m which should be ideal.

Downside, I presume, is that it will be more expensive to run? But, I'm not planning to have it on all the time, just when required, so hopefully not too much of an issue.
The only issues I get with touching the floor is the big fallow bucks(70-80 kg). There is a bit of a technique to getting fallow in and I will have to explain it one day.

My landig is really quiet and doesn't cost much to run. They are efficient in comparison to my old man's Williams.

As with anything the bigger it is the more it costs to run and buy. Maybe making a custom one you can insulate it more.
We were on the reds at the weekend. One was 141kg and the other 85kg. You need to be geared up for them. Extraction to hanging is very different to other deer. But I know a good fallow buck or Sika stag can be heavy as well. I've never stalked the south. Only North and Scotland.

A good setup you can back up too with a winch to get them out and in the chiller is what I would be looking to do. But it would cost. But lay up with a bad back, it would pay quite quickly.

Makes a big difference not stretching those legs out. Does the hanger spin on a swivel or is it fixed?
It swivels as the X part sits on the fixed part, they will hoop over the J, the fixed ones (winch hook added) then the plate still swivels but is between the winch hook and fixed end.

unless it’s a long, offset s-hook which passes through the pelvis and hooks the aitch bone. Sometimes simple is better.
The last thing you said to me was "you are going on my ignore list" please make you mind up!
Sometimes simple is better

You need to think about getting fallow (or sika, reds) onto the rail. My Landig has an extension rail and an auto lift, so if I'm at the fridge at 11pm in August alone, I'm not struggling to hang the carcasses. Takes a couple of minutes to attach the rail and slide them in, no sweat.
If you are stalking for the long haul, a back saver like this is a must. The fridge is maybe 20 years old? I've had my money's worth many times over, it hasn't missed a beat.
