Surely John, you're missing almost the most vital detail ?
The "s".
You know, the s. It's the little squiggly letter at the end that makes it into "PIES" !

Don't think I could limit myself to just the one ...
Anemic looking pastry is small price to pay for a filling like that and is probably a result of not being able to cook for too long so as to not over-cook and toughen the filling.

Very well summed up LS. I have never had a prawn and scallop just plain old scallop pies and they have been magnificent....yes a minimum of two required for gannets."Prawn and scallop pie" ?

I would have to make my own as can't stand scallop roe and plays havoc with my gout. Scallops are full of purines. Love all crustaceans though and we probably have prawns, crab or lobster at least twice a week. And use the shells to make a great stock for a future risotto

The best part for me and whenever I see "roe off" scallops I cringe.
One of the best pies I ever tasted came from Stanforths butcher in Skipton. Beautifully made warm pork pies with absolutely amazing pastry. The only catch to them is you need to lean forward while eating one to avoid spilling juice all down your front. This is known as the 'Skipton Shuffle'
