Covering the holes where the iron sights came off....

Is there a standard solution with which to cover the little screw holes where iron sights have been removed? If it wasn't for these my M65 would be perfect.

+1 on the above...that's what I did.

It can be a bit hard to source the right colour of wax though.
The blueing on my rifle is black really and asking for black candles makes you look like a devil worshipper or something :).

Let me know if you are stuck and I'll send you some.

Melt coloured wax into the holes.

Hadn't thought of that. I'm in Edinburgh next week where there is still some residual Goth pollution, so black candles should be relatively easy to find....

Thanks.

Decent m
rifle makers included blanking screws. My Mauser M96 Slide Bolt came with them fitted into the scope mounting holes for those who like to use iron sights. P-H also fitted them.

i have done this on my 243 tikka 590,

black wax and its done the job for abot 3 years no issues.

bob.

Nearly spat my coffee out !!
Kids Crayola wax crayons come in all colours are cheap and readily available !

Wax just comes out when your barrel heats up and goes all over your scope lens , i use grease this seems to stay in place

The ham shanks have no appreciation of the state of 'gunsmithing' here, of course plug screws are the 'best' but when your local plumber stares blankly at you what are you supposed to do eh?
Truth be told; not many actually know how to identify a thread anyhoo!

Ahhh that's where the wonder web comes in. Places on the web can supply blanking screws for most firearm applications.
