Just back from Round 1 with the AZ inoculation.
I rocked up an hour early (you cannot kick it out of me) and was (along with dozens more) ushered straight through, by an army of HiViz warriors.
In and out in about ten minutes. This centre is knocking out the jabs at the rate of 1,600 a day. Impressive logistical operation.
Got to love the UK.
Had my first jab last Friday.
Experience was much the same - arrived and immediately processed, such that with an appointment at 10:40 I was out by 10:55. That included a 5-minute briefing from the GP to allay any worries caused by the EU suspending AZ vaccinations.
I made a particular point of thanking everyone I met who was involved in the organisation - the people directing cars, the stewards in the car park, the people at reception checking us in, the attending GP, the "jabbers" themselves, those who showed us out, etc. Getting "jabs in arms" is clearly the priority, but without the myriad of happy and willing volunteers and other helpers supporting the vaccination program it never could have scaled as effectively as it has. It was First class service throughout, and I happily spent the rest of the day telling all my European work colleagues on Zoom how efficient it was
I took a couple of paracetemol the morning of the jab. I felt fine until about 16:00, at which point I started to feel a bit "flu-ey". I crashed out early and had a very restless night's sleep, getting up at around 4am. I then spent Saturday feeling like I had a mild hangover.....though without having had the pleasure of a skinfull the night before! A couple more paracetemol bucked me up enough to process a roe doe hanging in the chiller.
I went to bed early on Saturday night as well. Sunday morning was up at 3:30am and in the car and off to go stalking by 4:15, feeling remarkably chipper! Muntjac doe gralloched by 07:30, having declined the opportunity of two quality munty bucks in the meantime. Happy days!
