Custom Knifes - what is a custom knife?

He doesn’t make the knives himself they are made in Pakistan ( or similar country ) have seen lots of bad posts about his knives lately where they can’t even cut paper. There is even a video of a guy running the blade across his hand to show how dull it is.

Marketing strategy is clever as they fetch around £200 a knife and cost approx 1/4 of that to be made and shipped to the UK

That makes a lot of sense. They look ghastly.

The canton cutler is your man for all things bladelike
Jake will do you a custom job
he makes the J blade for Feyblades and its a badass bit of kit
Top guy, super helpful and you get to send your blade back to him for free sharpening as and when you need for the life of the blade.

I got a knife made by mr Geoff Hague about 20 years ago I know he made every bit of it and to my design took nearly a year but it was worth the wait thought I was paying a lot for a knife but it’s worth a lot more now and it’s still works every day hold a great edge and still brings me pleasure when ever I use it there are lots of good knife makers about but geoffs knifes are getting expensive now

Knives are like tattooing, an interplay between art and craft, between design and execution. From the British Blades days there were two stand out makers of fixed blades in the UK. Guy Stainthorpe and Stuart Mitchel. To my mind there's just something rather wonderful about the proportions of Stuart's designs.

I agree it’s ALL in the proportions -

I think this counts, customer supplied template and specification alongside completed knife.

I'll be honest, the blade isn't a perfect representation, it is actually around 5mm too short, I had a mishap which saw it travel the length of the workshop in double fast time, hitting a brick wall, thankfully not via me 😂

That probably means a MK2 is on the cards, MK1 is currently with the commissioner for testing and feedback.

Lovely 😍

By the way, how did your personal fish filleting knife project go? (I think it was a fish filleting knife? Or was it a flexible bonding knife?)

As predicted, Mk2 was created, and Mk1 is now back with me in Sheffield 😂

More on that over the next few days.

Lovely 😍

Sorry mate, just seen this.

It never really got off the ground.

You know what they say about the cobbler's kids and their shoes 😂
