Custom or off the shelf?

A rifle I shot of for over 10 years was a Ruger m77 in 270 win, that cost me £270 with the change from my honeymoon.

It’s shot gnats cock size groups right up to the day I sold it.

When you have a rifle that flawlessly performs like that why spend the money?

I will add I now have a semi custom 7x57 because it was crack handed and that bloody cheap I couldn’t say no 😂😂😂

Semi custom rifles aren’t more expensive than off the shelf rifles.

It’s the buying the PSE stocks that hits the wallet.

I’ll never buy another factory rifle again.

I do currently own a T3 300WM but that’s means to and end , just so I had a magnum bolt face.

Now full on custom rifles aren’t spendy but would be totally wasted on a scruff like me,I do have an F class urge building inside me though for some reason.

Most of the UKs rifle builders produce excellent work , but I’m lost at the pricing charged by some of the Facebook famous ones.

B&N being one.

Horses for courses.

If you want some target thingy that’s going to shoot the left testie of a field mouse at 1600 yards, then that’s a few quid more than a reliable bang stick that actually fits you because you are right handed but shoot left handed and you only need it for fox bashing…

Custom or factory is a simple life choice

Like cars - “ I like driving”

Can I afford a Porsche - no

Can I afford a sporty cheaper equivalent - yes

Buy that

I want to manage deer fox and shoot targets

Shall I buy factory

- what do I buy with my budget

Shall I buy a semi custom using parts developed buying factory bean counter restrictions

Yes - choose a used action and build around that

Can I afford a full custom

Yes

Choose and build around that

All will factory will kill deer and fox and some will be accurate enough to shoot targets with at distance

Semi custom and full custom will enable enhanced accuracy and customer satisfaction of having something that “they” have had a hand in putting together

Yup , a used REM 700 is always a used rem 700
So is a tikka so is a Sako

They will all produce tier one accuracy and reliability if built properly with care by your chosen rifle smith

So will any of the rem clone footprint custom actions

The choice is ultimately the individual paying the bill

So, using the above logic, most folks on here drive a 30-year old Dagenham Dustbin and own a Parker Hale?

I edited the car age from 20 to 30 when I realised I had shirts that were 20 years old that I still wear…

I’ve only ever had factory rifles in the past. I may have had them bedded or threaded etc but the big bits have always been factory.

Even my competition pistols , while sometimes customised a bit , were always factory slides framed and barrels.

I’ve got a semi custom Tikka on the way from @BE Precision which I’ve very excited about and which cost less than a basic new tikka. So this will be a first for me

Will report back

It never occurred to me that you might have been joking.
I must stop taking things so seriously.
Whilst it may be funny to turn up at the range day in creedmoor dress...i dont think I have the brass neck (or body) for such things.

As long as I have a sense of humor and a set of ear defenders for your cannon I should be ok  👍

No mate...just a pair of boots and a smile  :)

Unfortunately since the consensus is that those who own a creed are willy wavers ... I would fall short in that department so perhaps your suggestion is much better ...and avoids public decency offences 👍
