I’ve been having problems with this rifle after a few shots the bolt goes really stiff and I struggle with pulling the bolt back,I’m using hordanny 35g 22 hornet ammunition, also on a separate issue the trigger isn’t brilliant does anyone know if there is a quick fix for this please,I’m thinking of trying some different ammunition in this rifle if anyone has any ideas what to try please.

Kind regards Andrew

That's strange.
When you say after a few shots....do you mean if you shoot it continuously, a magazine full or since a few shots of ownership?

Also is it just hard extracting a spent case or is the bolt stiff regardless, they are quite a snug fit.
The extractor forms a kind of slide/guide running back along the bolt; I once polished one thinking of slicking up the action which had the effect of making the bolt really sticky to pull back; weird but it worked better with a slightly course finish.
I've only had experience with the single set trigger but there is loads of adjustment. How does it feel when pushed forward into the set position?

Timney trigger for the CZ550 fits the 527 , the CZ550 Magnum trigger uses a longer blade and will require shortening so best to stick with the Timney for the 550 . If you decide to change ?

Don't forget that the CZ 527 is a Mauser action, and feeds from the magazine. I've seen people trying to "push feed" with them and causing all sorts of problems

Hi thanks for the reply, yes it happens after about 3 shots continuously than are being fed from the magazine

Had the same problem with Hornady factory ammo, quality ot the brass possibly.
Moved to Sako & Norma never had an issue with same rifle

Yes and no, it depends on what trigger is fitted.
My CZ527 has an aftermarket trigger. However my gunsmith has a hornet and the trigger is different. It won’t fit the 550 or aftermarket ones.

dangerous thing to comment on this because it need examination to be sure and anything that involves poor bolt opening or closing could be a pressure situation . I would check the cases for fit and ejection ( without any powder or bullets ) Then check it after a real good clean if it is not already back to the metal

Which trigger has yours got fitted ?
I actually have a Timney for the 550 fitted in my 527 , it replaced the factory trigger unit with the set trigger . The Timney for the 550 Magnum has a longer trigger blade which prevents its use in the 527 , unless shortened it fouls the guard.
The factory trigger is very different in appearance to the available aftermarket units of which I believe there are only 2 .
Weirdly , I haven't checked this recently, Timney don't mention that the 550 unit will fit the 527 .

I believe that it is a Rifle Basix (spelling?) one. It’s not a Timney one and the only other one I could find that looks right was theirs. The blade has been shortened. You can see it’s not square like a factory finished one would be.
It is a very nice trigger as far as I am concerned. I have set it to the pull weight I like and basically forgot about it. If you get my drift? It’s only threads such as this that remind me. The factory trigger in my old 550 was ok, a little bit of polishing made it a lot better though. The 527 was literally set the pull and leave it.

If memory serves , the Rifle Basix uses some of the original trigger components and removes the SST , the Timney is a complete unit again without the SST. Just different ways to skin a cat. I went with the Timney simply because I have one fitted to another rifle . I still have the original in the replacements packaging. Somewhere ?
From the CZ parts diagram, it does appear as though the 527 and 550 are the same?

My CZ527 in 22 hornet had a single set trigger but I have converted it using the RifleBasix kit
The conversion was easy - it only took about 10 minute and the trigger is much, much better than before.
As has been said, most of the original trigger is used and the kit only contains a few parts (including a new trigger) and instructions for fitting.
Well worth it

Cheers

Bruce
