CZ527 Hornet magazine issue

I have an issue with a CZ 527 magazine that I've bought, in that it won't click into the magazine retainer.

Now I already have a magazine that came with the rifle that fits no problem at all. I bought the other magazine as a spare.

I imagine that the slot that the magazine retainer is meant to locate in, is not quite in the correct position and maybe need opening up a little to get the retainer go in.
The 2 stops if you can call it that, do sit onto the bottom metal so I know it is going in far enough but not engaging.

Anyone else came across this issue and was it a case of opening up the slot for the retainer as I think?

Thanks in advance

It does sound like your bought in mag is faulty but these 527s can sometimes function even it the part the magazine slides into is not fully into the very tiny recess under the action.
It can sometimes need some fiddling to get it into place, but a useful trick is to put the metal in place and the push the magazine fully home and this will ensure the metal is fully home, only then put the two retaining screws in and tighten.
Might not be your problem but worth a try.
Ken.

I wouldn't want to do that as the original magazine works just fine to be honest.

I may just take a small air grinder to the slot for the magazine retainer. Looks like it's only just not going in.

I own a new CZ527 American in .223, rifle came with 5 round mag, I purchased spare mag from CZ.

I seem to have a lot of issues with mag insert, its like the rounds sit too high in the mag and slightly spread the top side of the mag, if I push rounds down and retry it is often better. An unloaded mag is easy to insert and seats well. I'm also trying different ammo to see if OAL of the cartridge or bullet type contributes to issues.

I'm also aware that there are several versions of the CZ527 and that magazines are sold for certain variants, I wanted to buy a 3 round mag but found out they were for a CZ527 M1 version only and would not work well in the standard CZ527.

I have owned a lot of CZ rifles and never had a complaint with others. I'm disappointed to have issues but hoping things will wear in to achieve better performance. I'm trying to get some use on this rifle.

Good luck with yours, reach out to CZ customer support.
