Scrapyards are linked to find old spares, worth a try.
Ref the grey colour the basic plastic glovebox I assume you mean the visible drop down lid may well have been spray painted so that one basic plastic part fits a range of colour schemes as it is too hard to match plastic pellets being put into the mould hopper to be constant match to the other parts of the IP which may well be made in a different factory.
I spent 20+ years working on IP engineering.
IP = instrument panel.
Hi Bavarian,
With mine I had a heavy object on the passenger seat, under breaking it slid forward and broke the “glovebox lid”
It is made of grey plastic and not painted.
They come in black,beige and grey, grey being the rare colour you can’t find, plenty of black and beige though, just my luck
Ah! I was at LR on the IP launch for the Disco IP the new body version that came out 2005-6ish.
Being 2001 does it really matter which colour as you just need it to function until the scrapyard reaper comes aknocking.
Normally no but I’ve just bought this car, it’s mint, 60,000 documented miles, 31 service invoices, no rust anywhere as it was kept all its life in a temp controlled garage along with the rest of their cars, it really is in phenomenal condition.
There’s a guy local to me who breaks Discos & trades on eBay too - have bought stuff for my D2 from him in the past at reasonable cost Security measure | eBay
I have a funny feeling (recollection) that the grey interior on the D2 was the same as the ‘facelift’ D1 so worth looking at people breaking D1s as well as D2s as a lot of the dash is common to both models
- no, sorry, it’s black. You should be able to pick up a grey glovebox lid from Heathy/Paul or from Alex at Steep - I’ve had a look at photos & 95% certain the D1 facelift & D2 are the same fit & very probably the same colour too.

Pretty sure black wasn’t introduced until the facelift as I remember it being really difficult to get things like the heated front screen switch in black when I had my 2003 facelift as all the ones for sale from scrappers were grey.
Anyway, have sent you a PM with a few links that might help
