DNS battery conversion

After an interesting start to last night with two DNS batteries failing, one in the thermal spotter, one in the N470s scope. I now have two batteries that never charge, for the scope at least I'm looking to dismantle the battery unit, which looks to be 4xAA soldered together, removing the batteries and using the casing as an adapter for a 6v unit I can attach to the rail.
I know someone done a similar thing with a photon, anyone tried it with a sightline N470 ?

I have two of the same and they don't hold the charge v well. V fortunately I have 4x cradles that accept AA batteries. I too would like to dismantle the battery units and replace the batteries

I sold the cradles I had with a spotter, in hindsight it would be quite easy to convert that. I've started taking this apart, its just three crosshead screws, if I can test the batteries its likely one thats failed and can be replaced, or go ahead and use it as a base for a better battery

Mine appear welded together no screws. Please can you post some pictures of yours as you dismantle and rebuild them.
