Dog inoculation - annual boosters

Sooo our very recently adopted two years old little darling Rua is due her boosters - what is the current thinking on these chaps?

Your distemper, parvo and hepatitis immunity is likely to last for life. Lepto is really poor an needs annual boosters. Most vets do DHP every 3 years and L annually. We are a bit restricted by what is in the data sheets and kennels may have their own requirements. Annual vaccination with all does no harm.

A good dog I value far more than a tiny bit of money that the injections cost. I don't hear any one saying " the dog died because of a booster" I do know of dogs passing before their time because its boosters have consistently been missed year on year . most good dogs start at around say 1k? Yet in its whole life the injections will likely not build up to that amount . Is it even as much as a box of 20 good cartridges for the rifle ? Don't know and don't care to be honest

My sisters dog died because of a booster a few years ago, developed an autoimmune disorder, vet admitted it was the booster.
I told her to get that booster because the dog was flat out killing rats. Bitch suffered to the end, sister didn’t have it in her to get her put down early on.

That is very unfortunate and very rare , Far more dogs will pass before their time from missing vaccination.

After first booster I've not had any of my dogs jabbed but they don't go into commercial kennels. If they did need to go into kennels, I would have them titre tested to check whether they actually required a booster.

Initial vaccination then that's it's. Boosters are pointless and just making the vet richer. Never had a dog have a booster and all fine.

Just had my 13 month springer up for her booster £43 at me vets in Stanhope
Don’t think it’s a lot of money
Independent vet old school

See my earlier post, Lepto needs a booster
“Of course you would say that being a rich vet 👍

And this coming from a person who openly condones dishonesty / fraud as per your post below in Dec in reply to Tom 270. Interesting outlook on things.

One day we were chatting and he was off to catch moles on a farm.
He said of course the trick is not to catch them all. I replied I thought that was the idea.
No he replied that's the farmers idea.
Catch as many as possible in three quarters of the ground, and let him see them, but leave a corner that lookes like it's been done when it hasn't. Repeat business for next year.

What are you on about ?

I don't catch moles and wouldn't do this, the comment was relating to what I've heard from a molecatcher.

You must be sad scrolling back posts from the past.
