Thank you for the interest and to save answering individual enquiries this is my trip....
I am running two trips this year all with friends who I have hunted with many times before who I trust and enjoy their company. Turkey has 4 places available and the annual Croatia trip is now fully booked up.
I have hunted Turkey 4 times and Europe for 12 years and take between 2 and 4 boar trips per year so have a feel for what to expect.
Turkey represents truly wild hunting high in the mountains, the scenery is amazing and the cost is much less than elsewhere in Europe so you get 5 days hunting for the same price as 3 days in say, Hungary, Poland or Croatia
I prefer January and think this is the best time to go as is warmer than February and there is less likelihood of snow, at least on my trips this has been the case. On the last 3 January trips there have been no more than a dusting of snow anywhere and in the afternoon it was often hot enough to wear just a shirt when the sun rises and sometimes returned home with a suntan. However, I cant guarantee the weather!
February is also a good time however, IMO presents a bigger risk of snow which can be deep and apart from being cold can cause problems regards access and beaters/dogs pushing boar towards the guns. Personally January represent the best time as its been left alone over the Christmas and New year period and the leaves are off the trees by then so you can see the boar coming from afar. November is too warm and with too much cover on the trees and December simply does not work for me.
The boar in Turkey are original Russian strain which have not been hybridised with domestic pigs so are much larger than the European cousin. The Kiellers are huge and many achieve medal standard, the sounders can be 30-50 in size and to see them coming over the hill and towards you really gets your blood pumping! . The remoteness and untouched wilderness where we hunt is like nothing I have seen or hunted boar before. This really is wild hunting at its best and that's what keeps me going back year after year !
We stay in a very nice single occupancy Hotel in Tokat and hunt many different areas each day usually 3 drives per day sometimes 4 over 5 full days of hunting. You can shoot unlimited wild boar of any size and sex and there are no other hidden fees and no trophy fees. Its all 100% wild and unfenced in remote areas. However, the outfitter I use has specially adapted 4X4 trucks with raised suspension to get you to your peg, therefore, very little walking is required if any and often you are placed right onto your peg.
You can shoot other species including fox and jackal, there are also lots of wolf which are legally not allowed to be shot and I have seen bear and lynx before. The resident goat farmers in the mountains suffer from the wolf and you regularly see the Shepard guarding his flock with a pack of human friendly dogs.
Each morning we have breakfast in the hotel and the draw peg numbers daily and go up 3 or 4 each drive depending on size of the group. Lunch is provided in the field after the 2nd drive and then we have a 3rd drive and return to the hotel. the evening meal and refreshment is included in the price as is everything throughout the day - We have 5 full days hunting and minimum 3 drives per day.
The only extras are
Tips for beaters usually 30-40 Euro a day
Any alcohol you drink at the bar
No trophy fees but you pay 35 Euro if you want the teeth boiling out to take home. If you don't want your trophy teeth you don't pay anything regardless of size.
Flights
We fly 22nd Jan and return on 28th - Flight will be confirmed closer to the dates. You can fly from any airport you wish for the first leg to Istanbul, then we all need to board the next connecting short 1 hour flight to Tokat or Sivas where we will be collected and taken to the hotel.
Costs are 3500 euro for the whole trip plus flights. That works out at £3k approximately depending on exchange rate currently sitting at 1.19 euro to the pound. The deposit is 1000 euro per gun which works out at £860.00 each and the balance is payable at the back end of this year.
PM me with your contact details if you wish to discuss any further info.
Many thanks DD
