I have a one for one variation I need to send to NWP. Anybody know if you can just drop it off in the office?

No idea. I just put stuff in the post. Their response time is pretty good - have had a letter by return on one occasion.

Talking if NWP, does anyone have any idea how long they are taking with FAC grants at the moment?
Are they suffering from the same backlogs as most constabularies?

I have taken stuff in direct to the St. Asaph office a few times. Usually someone comes down to collect the paperwork. NWP firearms seems pretty good compared to some of the horror stories out there.

When my daughter's application went in they told us to allow 4 months for 1st grant, but in fact she had her ticket just 2 months after her 14th birthday. I 'phoned from time to time to check progress, and it appeared that the initial processing and background checks were done very quickly (within a week), and the only delay then was waiting for FEO visit, as their diaries are pretty full. Then allow a couple of weeks after the visit for new FAC to arrive.

llwynog, you are probably better off giving them a call before dropping in at the office. I have always found them very helpful. My variation arrived 5 weeks after sending in my application - a "one for one" variation for .223 to .243 and a new entry for 7mmRM.

All mine go in to Winsford by hand, I'm sure North Wales must have staff in the front office.
Hi Finnbear, do you get a receipt from them or is it just handover, the reason I ask is my sgc is up for renewal soon and I was contemplating dropping it off by hand.

Mrs Finnbear takes mine in to the front desk,no receipts needed as all on camera / voice etc, but she has to beat the jobsworth that works the car barrier in to work!!!:D

When I put in a variation for my 308 this spring, NWP got it back to me in 4 weeks.

After all that, with renovation work on the house, I still haven't been to buy a gun !

My force don't give a receipt when going in person into the station unless I pay by cash, which I always do now when putting a variation in. As already stated it's on camera etc but a receipt is absolute proof I've paid up and they have my certificate!

It's impossible to meet anyone at the Met Police FLO office. One can't even enter the building to drop off.

My SC renewal took about 6 weeks last October so on their advice I sent my FAC renewal (due on 26th Feb) in before Christmas. I not only got it turned round in 4 weeks but got AOLQ on both rifles and they rang me up and offered co-terminus SC for about another tenner. I have absolutely no grumbles re NWP for my last two renewals as on the previous one as I picked up the new FAC I just happened to mention to the FLO that it was stupid having fox on my .243 but not my .270, he said give it back to me and come back in a hour and promptly added fox to my .270.

To answer the OP's question, they definitely prefer not to have callers but I think you could arrange to call in. I'm assuming they've moved the Firearms admin from Prestatyn to St Asaph Business Park.

I droped my one for one variation into Dyfed-Powys in Carmarthen by hand on a Monday afternoon. A member of the licensing team can to reception checked all the paperwork was correct and I my FAC with variation came through my letterbox five days later.

Massive thanks to North Wales Police.
Sent my one for one variation by post on Wednesday 24th August, they'd have got it the following day. I got my FAC with variation on it back today. So around six working days.
Can't complain about that!
#well impressed....
