DSC Level 2 witnessing.

I'm looking into doing my level 2.

Looking through the info, regarding Witnessing culls.

[FONT=&quot]Once a candidate has had initial contact with their assessor and understand the components and standards required, he can go stalking with an [/FONT]Accredited Witness[FONT=&quot]. This is someone who would be present when a deer was killed and the carcass prepared, who has already been sponsored by an Assessment Centre as a suitably knowledgeable person and understand the standard required. They will know what an assessor’s role is and will already have DSC2 DMQ award. Once a candidate has registered, their e-portfolio account with have a list of all Accredited Witnesses in the resources area. It is imperative that the witness chosen in a DMQ Accredited Witness.

[/FONT][FONT=&quot]You must have all three culls witnessed by an Approved Witness from the Approved Witness list or an Assessor from one of the Assessment Centres. Your Assessment Centre will be able to advise you further on this and a list of Accredited Witnesses can be found in the candidate resources section of the e-portfolio.

[/FONT]For candidates who register after 1 June 2010, all 3 of these stalks must be witnessed by an Approved Witness. Candidates who register after 1 June 2010 will receive a list of those Witnesses who are currently approved by DMQ with your DSC2 portfolio, and may choose any Approved Witness from that list. You can also view the Guidance issued to Approved Witnesses.

Basially my question is.
I know you have to do the 3 culls with an APPROVED Witness, but do you still have to do Culls with an ACCREDITED Witness first for the portfolio?
Or
Do you just go direct to do the 3 with the APPROVED witness?

It's just 3 culls with the presence of an approved/accredited witness. The name is just different between the organisations. Good luck.

The BASC website is out of date which is a bit odd, as if you ring DMQ, the phone is answered by BASC!
The DMQ website is the authority though, and the process changed several years ago. We used to have 'Accredited Witnesses' (AW) and 'Credible Witnesses'(CW). The Accredited witnesses then became 'Approved Witnesses'(still an AW) and the 'Credible Witnesses' were removed as some of them pretty much destroyed the 'credibility' of the entire DSC 2 award! It used to be that a candidate had to do at least one stalk with an AW, the then the other 2 could be done with a CW. A CW was basically anyone that held a DSC 2 certificate that had obviously been through the DSC 2 process. Fine in theory, but the reality was somewhat different! CW's generally did not have the experience or briefings that AW's have and subsequently made a very poor job of the portfolios. Some where even caught fabricating the entire process over a beer in the pub for a mate or for cash! You now need to do 3 separate stalks with an 'Approved Witness' and that is it. 'Accredited witnesses' and 'Credible Witnesses' no longer exist. The whole system is based on Vocational Qualification which is basically a NVQ in deer stalking.
