DSC1 assesment

Evening everyone. I'm looking at doing DSC1 this year. I've looked around at courses but they're all quite a distance from me and I can't really commit to a four day course at the moment. I've seen that I can book just the assesment which is only the one day rather than four days. What I don't want to do is fail it because I can't commit to the full course so on that basis, can anyone point me in the right direction for some revision material or practice tests etc?
I've done the ones on the BASC website and passed them all first time (England, Wales, NI and Scotland) knowledge, sex and species identification and Deer Identification. I'm comfortable doing the shooting aspect of the assesment and based on the practice questions on the BASC website, I'm quietly confident in that area too. But I still don't want to fail if the assesment is wildly different to the questions on the BASC website.

Thanks in advance.

Also get a copy of the handbook and read through it.

Learning questions to pass a test is one thing (and can be done for most aspects of DSC1) but it's not in the spirit of it IMO.

Speak to the organiser.
When I sat mine, I had a 1 day training recap if you can call it that.
Where basically we skimmed over anything I wasn't too sure on.
Then sat the test the next day.

BDS now do an online DSC1 with 1 day shooting assessment / exams.
Their face to face courses are normally 3 days, rather than four.

I used DSC training. Org and BDS deer data. Found DSC training the more useful.

I did the 3 day training/ assessment with BDS , it was extremely informative, but without going through the book and online tests 1st I would have struggled.

I would also ask the BDS if they plan to run any courses or assessments in your area.
Good luck.

I signed up for one of these in September. They have a number of locations so maybe one will be closer to you. It’s assessment only, so you’ll h as s to do your own study. Price is good as well.
