DSC1 prep

The DSC1 manual. It will be sent to you when you enroll. It has everything you need to know, plus the question bank.
As said. The Manual. unsure if Scotland is different or not. but being in Scotland i had to purchase the manual outwith course cost. make sure you have the up to date version though as there was bits in my DSC1 that wasn't in some peoples Manual i.e wild boar.
After you have the manual.. read it.... read it some more.. then read it again everything you need to know is in it.
Also some lads on my course had downloaded an app (needs purchased also) that gives you mock tests to try out mixing questions around each time. They said this was really helpful.

With what has been said above, if your offered the app could you let us know the app name so some of us can download as well, have no intention of doing my DSC1 just yet but I would like to know the info and questions for it to start leaning now and we'll just more education

Relax. Don't worry. Unless you are one of the tiny minority that could confuse a deer with a wombat, you will pass the DSC1 exam.
That is true even if you do just the short version of the course.
They should provide all the material on the course.
The exam checks you can recognise the 6 species of deer in the UK, know their hunting seasons, know the minimum calibre (ft/lb, fps or metric equivalents), know what you can and can't do with the carcass, how to handle it so it remains fit for consumption, basic UK firearms law, and finally, know what is or is not a safe shot.
The shooting test is easy, so long as you shoot the right target, so if it is the 100 yard target they call out, shoot it, and not another one.
This not a lot of stuff to learn, and the course duration is plenty to cover that.
NB: Don't bring a knife along with you, as you are not going hunting.

Those who have invested the time, money and effort in producing the manual and own the copyright may not be happy with that suggestion
There’s certainly been a lot of time gone into it since I did mine… a friend is doing his & the wire bound paper manual he’s got is three times the thickness of the old one I got when I did mine - never mind the content, feel the weight! 😳

There’s also a digital version that BASC offer for £15 and they’ll send you a (much lighter) USB stick in the post 👍🏻
