Dual Purpose Scope Advice

I’m looking fir a scope. Something dual purpose for use deer stalking / Foxing but also long range gong shooting so an ability to dial.

Any recommendations?

How close will you deer be? Woodland stalking, high seat or on the hill or across a twenty-five acre field? For woodland 3x is almost too powerful! But I'd reckon the American standard 2-7x or 3-9x would see you OK depending on how big the gong you need to see.

I use a 3-9x36 Zeiss Diavari-C and at one time had three on three rifles. If I could have had a Zeiss 2-7x36 (they never made one) I'd have chosen that instead. But maybe these look useful? Which seem to be the modern "take" on these variables except now you've slighly more top end magnification and a greater diameter front lense.

There's also the second one down in this list:

Meopta ZD 6-24x56

Dials like a nightforce, but with way superior glass. Best glass I've used at low light. Carrys on past my Swarovski slc bins at dusk.

If the long range dialling is the least important then a Delta Titanium 2.5-15x56 illuminated would be my choice (I have one for exactly that reason).

Stalking it's ideal for with the mag range and illumination, foxing is great too as the low light ability is superb but as it has adjustable parallax you can also use it with NV and it performs very well. Although the turrets are covered when you expose them they are nicely marked so dialling is very easy and clear. Personally I think this is the best all round scope for under £1k and will fit what you want perfectly.

Long range gong you'll be wanting 20x anyway. Just make sure you get something with a zero stop if it has dialable turrets, and not just on the elevation.

Maybe I should keep my Sightron S-Tac 2.5-17.5x56. I’m just not a great fan of it.
The Meopta glass is in a different class to the S-tac. I compared them both recently in Blue fox glade in Devon. Just depends how far your shooting. I went through the same thing when I wanted a scope for lamping and long range target on my .243. I went for a Zeiss V6 5-30x50 with a standard No.6 ret. The glass was great and lamping was made so much easier with it. Now I have NV on my .243 and bought a .260 for long range target. I had one go out at 500 yards and sold the v6 a couple of weeks later. The turrents are very good on the Zeiss but I was struggling to get on target. I am now wanting FFP and am saving for a Delta Stryker.
Im not knocking the Zeiss at all as its a very good scope, im just saying, make sure you know what you want before making your final decision.

Sounds great. Cant wait to get mine. Might be a little heavy as a stalking scope mind lol. Meopta are bringing an interesting range out soon called Optika 6

It's a rabbit hole I have been down too many times. In the end I have given up, as compromise doesn't give you the right result for anything.

Target rifle - heavy to absorb recoil and allow you to see the bullet strike. FFP scope dialled up to 20 plus with a tactical reticule matched to the turrets so you can measure and adjust at all zoom ranges, multi turn turrets with zero stop, good glass.

Hunting rifle - light weight so you can carry it all day. SFP scope so I can always clearly see the reticule at any zoom level. Goes down to 3x zoom, clean reticule, single turn turret with zero stop as I don't need to go beyond 500 yds, fantastic glass.

You've already got the Stryker as a bloody good LR scope on a target rifle. I would be looking for a Swaro Z5 or Z6 with BT and the 4W reticule for the hunting rifle which is a compromise but workable for LR but exceptional for hunting.
