Eating Hornets.

My two year old ESS chomped a hornet at lunchtime, came in on the log basket l reckon.
Has anyone ever had a worse reaction than a fat lip ever with their dogs?
He ate his tea,and some of mine.
The bugger attacks wasps,spiders,et al.

Depends if it was a 17Hornet or a .22Hornet, both can be quite nasty little buggers.

Sounds like he's ok if he's eating well.

More likely to be a hibernating queen wasp.

A queen wasp would seem most likely as we get dozens hibernating in our logs. I have found a queen hornet twice, so not impossible (even bigger and more orangy).

I got stung by a queen wasp the other day, from a log, and it did seem more painful than a worker wasp. If a dog chomped it there a chance it killed it before being stung.

How is the dog today?

Evening everyone.
He didnt want breakfast.
A trip to the vet at eleven this morning.
His right side jowls were swollen right up,and it was spreading down his lower jaw toward his throat.

He had a high temperature, vomited bile in the waiting room too.

2ml LA Amoxicyllin
2ml steroids duely injected.

7pm now,he did munch some biscuits,and had a drink.

So ,as predicted by my vet, expect a fairly quick response to the meds,or back to the practice with him.

The silly sod chases every creepy crawly with a passion.

My son said a hornet was on the living room carpet, but he would not know the difference between that and a queen wasp.
Got launched through the window before l saw it.

once you see a hornet any wasp looks small.
if it looks yellow and black not crab apple red its a wasp.
every year in may i get called to a swarm of wasps

Our lab pup (7 years ago) used to chase and bite bees until a Bee retaliated it now gives flying buzzy things a wide berth.
