Hello,

After leaving education and trying for outdoor jobs I don't seem to be getting anywhere, so I thought I would try on here as I have been a member for many years. I'm in my 20's and am willing to move anywhere as I have nothing tying me down.

I am looking for a countryside job. Something along the lines of stalker, wildlife manager/ranger, underkeeper, estate work. I'm open to anything really. I have many qualification but am looking to gain experience in these roles.

Qualifications include;

LV3 Extended Diplomas in Countryside Management & Agriculture
PA1,2,6 Spraying
Level 2 Award in Agricultural tractor driving, telehandler, quad and atv
NPTC CS30/31 Chainsaw
DSC1/2
Lantra Advanced Deer Management, Specialist Deer and Wildlife Management
FAC/SGC


If anyone knows of anything or is looking to train a someone up, please let me know.

Not the easiest of jobs to get into as you are finding out, unfortunately there are more people with the necessary qualifications than there are jobs.
The above job could be the opening you need (no guarantee though) though its the route that many stalkers have taken in to job.

Contact Forestry nearest to you.

If you are willing to move then drop a speculative email into fls. Try to speak to someone in the wildlife team. They recently tried to recruit 6 apprentice wildlife rangers. I am not sure of status of this now.

FLS will be recruiting a Wildlife Ranger soon in the South (Borders) region.
 
The fls job is live now... give it a go!!!.... you're young enough!
And the borders is an awesome place to live (I've lived there) and renting a house is a bit cheaper there.

Other than that go for a gillies job... its a step in the right direction (I talk from experience as it did help me secure a full time deer and wildlife managers job... that and all the qualifications known to man and 20 plus years experience in deer and wildlife management.. lol )
