I know it seems very early, but everything seems early this year: has anyone seen fallow cleaning or in hard antler already?

Am i right in saying thats farmed red ?thats a month early i would say for normal wild reds in mid devon

Both red and fallow still in velvet in Perthshire. Usually another 3 weeks before they start to clean, depending on their age.

That's what I would have thought for Perthshire, but has a report that some fallow by Blairgowrie were starting to clean. Not sure I believe it...

Yup the red stag peering at the side of the A9 this morning looking suicadal was still in velvet. Not a nice feeling trying to slow down but not frighten them at 3 in the morning. Seen some cracking fallow bucks as well at Perth but wasn't close enough to see velvet, didn't actually know fallow were present so was more a shock seeing them at the side of the road....

Yes, farmed. Well bred, well fed. 340 kilos. has sired all my best calves which average 5 kgs more at weaning than from other stags. Buying him was my best investment ever. Now in well earned retirement, the stag, not me:-D

Between Perth and Dunkeld you should see a lot of fallow...there are reds just south of Perth at the A9, and again, north of Dunkeld

Shot a couple of fallow prickets this morning central midlands and both were in hard antler.

And so a Pricket should be as it would be last year young. A knobbler born this year would have hardly any growth and would be in velvet as will be sore-Sorrel and Bucks until very late August early September :thumb:

Shot a 3 year old staggie yesterday which had velvet which was hard, and starting to split. Bigger stags are still in velvet. More interesting was the amount of scarring from warbles undef the skin, whole back was covered.
