Vacancy: FCS Wildlife Ranger - Lowlands District

Nothing too onerous in the requirements. Looking for a pro to do a pros job. Nice to see a well written job description. You know what's in the tin. For the younger model of Ranger not the old hand.

as jimbo says, the requirements for the dogs nothing taxing either that's just basics for a young dog lol

Sounds like they will need a superman outfit, and superdog outfit too

As the guys say there is nothing in here above the standard they expect from all of their rangers. Not an easy role but, for the right person a dream job.

Personally I think it is good that they are now insistent rangers use a trained dog, I wish it was the same when I worked for them in the early 90s.

How would you satisfy this
•Achieve a personal deer cull as agreed with the WRM;, Whilst fulfilling all the other office type workload?, have you read the complete job description?

what this highlights is that they require the best people to do the job, I know and work with several Fc rangers and they cope, I guess it's not the job for everyone yet everyone seems to think they have an easy time of it, far from it, it's a challenging job for which they want the best possible candidate, not sure I understand your issue with it?

Don't get this....
It's a job advert !!
If your not qualified enough or don't want it don't bitch about it...
If you are or do then just apply
They're bound to ask for the earth as to try to cut on the amount of applications from wannabes who don't have a clue how hard the job can be.
Good look to all who apply

Controlling deer in highly urban areas and they are looking for a competent professional.

Who'd have thunk it?

Apply or don't apply, just don't whinge on here about them setting high standards for who they want.

Not heard anyone "Whingeing" or even "Bitching", I was just commenting on the truckload of person spec, don't reckon Rab has much of that to cope with.

Finnbear most of the deer cull would be achieved during winter months and office type workload during summer months checking leases showing people around new leases carrying out firearms test.

Also not all they do but just an example.

The questions on civil service applications are the downfall for this, they wrote a fairly extensive job description and then the questions are vague HR nonsense, with a specific guidance book covering every civil service job.

I could have sworn all you had to do was shoot deer, larder the beast/s and then radio HQ before heading home to your croft to ready those beasts for the annual Fatstock Show!

It's a dream job for someone and probably a job for life with a good pension. Why not have the best after all us tax payers are footing the bill.

The onerous list of conditions is only a problem if it means they don't get any applicants. If they get enough people with the right tickets who want the job, then what's the issue?
