' really chuffed with this. Such a fine animal. Perplexed that a shot that took out all arteries and veins at the precise point where they enter the heart left this beast running 30 yds before dropping, stone dead!
Can anyone help with an age estimate?

Possibly three years looking at the pics. What weight was the carcass? A nice buck, well done. FM.

Thanks FM. I don't have scales yet but I'd guess at a tad over 20 kg., based only on experience with flight baggage weight. There was NO fat on/in him. Maybe this photo would give a better idea of size ... and maybe not.

I don't think that guess is far out! I would put a floor/drain in your tray it will allow the deer to sit above any blood that drains from the cavity.
