first time in a high seat!

I booked an am and pm stalk on muntjac with Jim from DGVM on Tuesday.

We set out from Wirral at 1am and arrived at Jim’s by 5:45am after a quick coffee we were out on the high seats in time for dawn.

This was all new to me and I have never been up in a high seat. Lovely to blend in to nature and once settled watch all the animals come out and attend to their business . 3hrs seemed to fly by. Although I didn’t see any deer my shooting buddy saw a muntjac crossing a ride(but wasn’t able to take a shot).

We were then taken for a full breakfast at the nearby farm shop, after that a quick spot on Jims range, which was nicely set up for 100m & 200m before going back out to different high seats.

I had a view across a copse of trees and a small meadow, and again, once ensconced in the high seat all manner of wildlife came out including two cock pheasant squaring up to each other.

As the sun set my eyes started playing tricks on me with the long shadows looking very interesting until viewed through the binos!

Alas it wasn’t meant to be and I wasn’t to see any deer this time.

We were back in the car by 6pm finally getting home at 10pm.

Sure beats sitting in the office and I am looking forward to getting out again soon.

thems the breaks!

jim is a great guy and was very hospitable, with a good set up.

i was shattered by the end of the day, maybe a B&B would be a better idea next time!
