@WillThomson1996, perhaps you could clarify whether, by target shooting, you mean an organised activity at a club range, or impromptu shooting at targets on private land (which we actually call "zeroing" for FAC purposes)?
Oooh ok, that would be awesome, I will get in touch with you with some dates if you don't mind? Would love to try them!Very good! What I will say though is that should you opt for a "Centre Fire Rifle Experience" at HSG the rifle will likely be the lesson or rather estate rifle, which is a .243 and with a trigger that even Iron Mike would struggle with.
My suggestion would be for you to shoot the three different cartridges/calibres through my rifles which are well maintained with sublime triggers in your own time and not be limited to twenty rounds. All free gratis of course.
I was in the same boat at the start of the decade and a stalker from near Malton did something similar for me except he tipped up with eight, yes eight, different calibres and rifles so in a way I'm perpetuating the tradition.
PS get your name down with Pickering RPC, there's a waiting list but you'll be glad you did![]()
A client of mine is organising charity day of rifle/sg shooting, was wondering if that's 'zeroing' within the meaning of my FAC or whether i needed to get a variation?@WillThomson1996, perhaps you could clarify whether, by target shooting, you mean an organised activity at a club range, or impromptu shooting at targets on private land (which we actually call "zeroing" for FAC purposes)?
That's a good question.A client of mine is organising charity day of rifle/sg shooting, was wondering if that's 'zeroing' within the meaning of my FAC or whether i needed to get a variation?
I have organised clay days for clients and taking your SG along has never been a problem, i doubt (depending on the venue whether rifles would be any different subject to the usual licence requirements). I may run it by my FLO see what they say, my 6.5cm is on an open basis so not sure if that helps. That's a good question.
I was wondering something similar myself, for example when the regional BDS group holds a range day. Do you think "Deer, aolq and zeroing" covers it?
Is this a better way to go to start off with a RF?when i got my FAC i had been doing a bit of research and went for a .17hmr then 6 months put in for a .223 rem
i went for a 20" barrelled 1-12" twist tikka t3x i only shoot foxes and use 53gr vmax rounds
ive never shot a fox with the .17hmr but there more than capable
No, because it'll cost you more, because you'll have to pay for a variation for your second rifle. Is this a better way to go to start off with a RF?
Very clear, thank you! Even more prudent now it’s just shy of £200!!!!!No, because it'll cost you more, because you'll have to pay for a variation for your second rifle.
Whatever calibres you can genuinely justify having, put on your initial application.
(Having said that, many people, myself included, start off with a rf only. But had I known what I know now I'd have applied for an additional calibre in the beginning).
Yes, no problem, I'm retired so I can fit in with your schedules. Very happy to help.Oooh ok, that would be awesome, I will get in touch with you with some dates if you don't mind? Would love to try them!

I think, much depends on which Firearms Licensing area you reside under. Thanks Glenn, that's my worry.. I suppose I will just have to chat with him, my FAO is a nice bloke so will get the ball rolling with my GP forms then go from there
id have said yes in most cases r/f first then put in for a c/f i was only looking at pest control (rabbits, crows and alike) on a permissionIs this a better way to go to start off with a RF?
Kenbro I know its a bit off thread but, may i ask why you would favour a .222 over a .223 if relying on factory rounds
are .222 not so readily available?

zactly 222 is great, 223 has greater availabilityKenbro I know its a bit off thread but, may i ask why you would favour a .222 over a .223 if relying on factory rounds
