Folding High Seat Advice

Does anyone have any experience of the portable folding high seats available?

I have need of one where public safety is key and I cannot use permanent, or even temporary seats. I have to take it in with me and bring it back out. I am not as worried about weight as I am about bulk.

My shortlist consists of........

Bushwear Panther: https://www.bushwear.co.uk/bushwear-panther-folding-highseat-316923.html
A1 Folding: http://www.a1decoy.co.uk/folding-high-seat-876-p.asp
A1 Telescopic http://www.a1decoy.co.uk/telescopic-high-seat-2014-p.asp (My preference at the moment, but out of stock it seems)
GDK Telescopic: https://www.amazon.co.uk/GDK-telescopic-hunting-ladder-stalking/dp/B012WIE0EE

Thanks in advance.

I use the telescopic ladder seats, and they are quick, and easy to put up. I'd suggest an extra ratchet strap, if you're going to use it in the same location for any time.

The seat from AI, and GDK via Amazon are the same, so speak to Ai and see how soon they will have them in stock.

In all the pictures that you show the best one is the panther high seat from bushware it’s a good peace of kit.
There’s also the Hercules from sealand .
I would leave all the rest well alone only talking from experience with the cheaper high seats on the market.
Hope this helps you decide.

Definitely don't get one of the same style as the "A1 Folding High Seat", as the shooting rail makes it difficult to shoot to the side, and the build quality was poor.

Shooting rail stability can be an issue on portable high seats.

I have used the Panther High Seats and they work well. The shooting rail allows you to shoot in all directions and is pretty stable.

Not having tried the telescopic versions, I would happily buy another Panther/"Seeland Hercules" Folding Highseat.

DON'T buy anything from GDK, whether via amazon or directly!!

Delivery times cam be very elastic and if you have a problem with a product their after sales service is non existent

The telescopics are all essentially identical. They’re ok, but not terribly durable - you’re unlikely to get more than a season or two out of them.

The Bushwear one is the best i’ve tried, especially if you get the extension kit. It’s not without its flaws - but I don’t think i’d buy any other now. Sadly, it really isn’t cheap!

I’ve had a bushwear one for about 10 years. Rail is a bit bouncy but I’ve fitted a couple of tubes (think I butchered an extendable clothes post!) from ladder to front of rail and it’s transformed it.

I have a telescopic A1 and it's not great. You have to bolt the seat to brackets at the top of the ladder where it then remains fixed at 90 degrees. Not very portable as a result unless you are happy to do that in the field.

I also made my own folding one that resembles A1 but I made a rail that is more like the Panther. I am very pleased with it.

The telescopics all use as a base a chinese knock off of an original Swedish telescopic ladder that I bought in 2002 reason was it was used by most fire services in Europe. It is super stable, I think the chinese one must uses thinner wall section tubes as mine is quite heavy but very safe feeling when extended.
Here is a in German resume of the folding ladder versions. Use gargle translate to get the meaning but the photos show a lot.

From my experiences which are mostly muntjac on the ground I shoot over, the percentages seen and shot from my 5 seats also stands I walk into and pitch up with the quad sticks (then move to get a shot)

The numbers I have seen then stalked too are far higher than from staying put, also a good number are from just doing the home work and pitching up.

I go to make best of my time, if I have to get out of the seat jump a ditch or push through a hedge or stand waiting then so be it….

As we say in pigeon shooting, better to be in the right place for 2 hours than 5 hours in the wrong place…lol

For your quandary I would rather carry/drag a deer than carry a mobile seat (and back) also the deer…

With your public safety issue it would be interesting to know is it the seat or the shoot area or both which is in question.

I've recently bought the hercules one from seeland and am very pleased with it, it comes with rucksack style straps for carrying and is very easy to use with a little practice.
Bought mine from swillingtons and it came next day along with the best customer service I've experienced in a very long time.

It's both mate. I also don't wish to be too visible to the public. We're not always a welcome sight, are we?

Yes, but if they are that close then where will the deer be? More to the point where would the people be?
Good luck with what you are trying to sorce.

I've used a knobloch for 20years. Carry it in assembled over the shoulder.

With a bit of practice you can shoot deer off sticks with it still on your shoulder :)
