Vulpecide!Reminds me of a day when I was a teenager out with my mate (an under keeper on the YTS scheme) - minding our own business doing the rounds of some tunnel traps when Charlie comes barrelling down a ride “bang” & over he goes- “can you hear hounds? - chuck that in the landrover & put some feed sacks over it quick!” followed not long after by “no, we’ve not seen a fox come through here - we’ve just been doing the traps & took a shot at a squirrel”

Reminds me of a day when I was out stalking , hounds pushed some cover through and duly pushed a roe doe out for me which stood obligingly.Reminds me of a day when I was a teenager out with my mate (an under keeper on the YTS scheme) - minding our own business doing the rounds of some tunnel traps when Charlie comes barrelling down a ride “bang” & over he goes- “can you hear hounds? - chuck that in the landrover & put some feed sacks over it quick!” followed not long after by “no, we’ve not seen a fox come through here - we’ve just been doing the traps & took a shot at a squirrel”

Too right,I have always loved a good drive over the dogs especially more so with hounds, lurchers and terriers.Look like a good day and good result.
It’s not that long ago (Or maybe it was?) when we had roe drives here.Reminds me of a day when I was out stalking , hounds pushed some cover through and duly pushed a roe doe out for me which stood obligingly.
Tassy used to have Fallow drives and at the time there was a five buck limit per man season. It’s not that long ago (Or maybe it was?) when we had roe drives here.
KB.
Ps. Went on one in the 1970s.
Interesting stuff John, thanks for that.Tassy used to have Fallow drives and at the time there was a five buck limit per man season.
My great old mate Kelvin (dec) shot five good bucks on a jump on opening morning.
THEY stopped that.
The great Avoca wallaby hunt of `68 had 250 shooters knock 1200 wallabies.
THEY stopped that.
However fox drives are very much a community event in rural areas here.
