Afternoon All,

Wondering if anyone can show me your set up reference frames for skining.

I am going to get one built and have a winch on the top of it...just after some ideas.

It will be going in my garage and I would like it to move so i can move it to the fridge.

Thanks

Can you not just fit an overhead rail & winch to your garage ceiling, rather than go to the bother of having a standalone bit of kit?

For skinning, you want as much height under the winch as possible, so you can raise the carcass as you work, rather than having to get down on your knees to do the last bits.
For larger species, 9ft wouldn't be too much.

You can gain a bit by bolting the winch to the floor and running the cable over a simple pulley block attached to the ceiling.

I have thought of that, but I am unsure if the ceiling struts would hold any weight . I am going to look into that though.

Being in a military house, the buildings are utter shite and would probably fall in on itself

Must be a newer MQ - the older ones we lived in were built like brick-built sh1thouses if you excuse the language. Had the misfortune (that’s a sweeping generalisation) of living in 6 before we saw the sense of buying at an interest only using the rental money. Now mortgage free thanks to the way the property market moved 😉

I do remember a PSA employee turning up at our OMQ at Leuchars to put a 4” hole through the wall for a tumble drier vent - he used a lump hammer and chisel but the bricks were incredibly hard. Once made good, you never knew he did it that way 😂

To be fair this one isnt bad, but I just dont trust the ceiling one bit haha, plus if i had a portable one then I can take it to my next one.
