Quick question - do you mean a significant temp change would be anything below 6.5°C up to 13.5°c for you rifle or 7 degrees either way? (So 3°c up to 17°C)

The latter. Those are steps, sized 7°C and 30 hPa. Set your calibration/default weather to whatever you like and correct when you are =>7°C and/or 30hPa away from that calibration.

You'll quickly realize that dialing a range correction of 5 meters (1 significant) at the shorter ranges (for example 300) is not possible and you will be needing a much larger deviation before it becomes significant.
I didn't bother defining all these shortrange increments, but rather kept it practical.
