Freezers

Not deer/venison related but…
How long will chicken keep in a normal chest freezer…?
The "official" answer is one year. The real life answer is almost indefinitely, provided it's properly wrapped and you accept that there will be some deterioration in eating quality after prolonged storage.
(I've occasionally unearthed meat from the bottom of our freezer that's been there 8+ years, and it's been fine!)

Well…I put one in last night, around 10pm. When I checked it this morning, it was dead. 😝

I know someone who once served a 12 year old frozen goose and told his guests how old it was once they had eaten it...
A bit like "Guess what that was "on a cockday day at Longparish Estate when Alf's wife Madge cooked up a massive ali stewpot of the various dead.
Some very small bones and some odd shaped ones too.

Big bowl of that,a shot of Grouse and some buttery doorstops, noone dare question its provenance.
Other than it was local.

Always good to see the new beaters faces, you could say it was fox and weasel.

Apart from freezer burn, if in a proper chest freezer should be OK for years. Might be a bit rough around the edges, but I cook accordingly depending on what it looks like. Still using stuff from the covid days. (Bought prior to the mad panic)
