Gempro scale vs RCBS Chargemaster Lite

As the title suggests I'd like opinions on both please.

I have a decent RCBS Competition powder thrower but with Lee scales at the moment. I'd like to go digital scales to speed things up a little and be able to weigh bullets, cases etc too.

Would it be better to keep the RCBS thrower and use the Gempro with a trickler to get it just right or get a Chargemaster Lite?

The Gempro is about £140 and I have a friend going to the states soon so a Chargemaster Lite is about $200ish at the moment over there so not a huge difference in price.

Obviously the Chargemaster is 'handsfree' so to speak but would it be faster than throwing a charge and a tiny bit of trickling if required? I don't usually load more than 50 rounds in a session so a couple of seconds each way per round isn't a deal breaker.

I've heard good things about the Chargemaster Lite, so much so that there will be one in my suitcase in a couple of weeks time, Massive saving over UK prices. A pal of mine is delighted with his.

Or..........

Decent beam scales and a Targetmaster.

I've heard good things about these but my concern is they look like a bit of a faff to set up? As my reloading is done on the kitchen table everything has to be set up and packed away each time I reload.

I have the ordinary full-fat Chargemaster. I couldn't do without it. Can seat a bullet while the next case is filling. Have never seen the lite version in the flesh but am told that it is just as good.

Best,

Carl

I’m sharing that same kitchen table!

My reloading press and various accoutrements are bolted to a lump of wood that I diligently clamp to the corner of the table when I want to put some together - it’s actually been that way for over 40 years and, despite the available space in other rooms, since the pistol ban and the need to knock out multiples of boxes of ammo, I quite like the situation.

Have a serious look at the Targetmaster. Despite it’s no frills appearance it’s a great bit of kit if you want consistency in your reloading. That’s mainly what I look for. A plus point is it’s manufactured by a forum member who will stand by his product.

Easy to set up and set down. A couple of minutes each time. I have a worx foldable work bench that i set everything up on. It takes 5 min to set up everything for reloading and for the next couple of hours i just belt out the loads. There is no way the wife would allow reloading on her oak kitchen table.

I have the semi-skimmed which doesn't have the memory of the full-fat but as far as I can tell is the same scale, motor, feed tube and hopper - I looked at both and bought the lite as I liked the touchscreen better than the buttons on the 1500.
I tend to dial in the weight of powder I need, get it to dispense 3 or 4 charges, set it to 'Auto' and fill 20 cases. You can seat the bullets, have a cup of tea, stick the pan back on the scale and the unit dispenses exactly the same as it was doing 1/2 an hour before.
It seemed so easy I was double checking weights on another set of scales for a while, but it hasn't faltered ... I still have the other scales though :)

I too own a charge master lite.
I also looked at the full fat version but personally didn't have a need for the memory function.
It's a good bit of kit, although not the cheapest.
As the others said the time to throw a charge is long enough to seat a bullet so it lends its self for getting a nice rythem going.

They are easy to empty and clean out after use or when changing powders.
Just make sure you remeber to shut the dump nozzle after, I've forgotten multiple times and covered my bench in powder!

All the best

Ben
