General Grabber vs Cooper Zeon LTZ tyres

I need some new tyres for the disco (255/55/19) and am considering more aggressive tyres than the slicks that Land Rover fit these days. Has anyone had experience of these tyres, any good or bad feedback would be appreciated, especially with regard to longevity, road noise ability off road etc

cheers

General Grabber's are the tyres fitted to Defender's and they pick stones up and throw them out up your wheelarches and chip paint and chassis. BF Goddridge are a better bet in my opinion.

I just put General Grabber AT2s on mine last week, can't tell any difference in noise whatsoever from the road tyres that were on there before, bloke in tyre shop had them on his truck and said they give excellent mileage and recommended them over BFGs and they're cheaper too.

Had mine of for a good while now. Very gd wearing. Cheaper than bfg's. excellant offroad. Not really got bad word too say. Wouldnt use others now.

I've got the general Grabber AT's on my Disco 2. Had them on about two years now. Wear is slow, performance off road is excellent and road noise is minimal. I didn't really notice much difference in noise at all, even at motorway speeds, the brick-like shape of the Disco makes more wind noise than the tyres make road noise. The stone slinging comment is valid though. If you have a stoney driveway then I'd think twice, but in normal use, this isn't a problem. They are also the cheaper of the two choices you mention. Would I have them again? Oh yes.

Run GG ATs on a Disco and the Freelander. Have bought another Freelander and just ordered another set of the ATs.

They wear very well, no noticeable road noise. Decent off road - the tread does fill up with mud but that is the problem with the BFs too. Excellent in snow.

Very good tyre for mostly road (fine at 80 on the motorway) and fine off road.

If you are doing 90% off road then pick a mud tyre.

I did an off road green laning trip a few months ago, and one guy with General Grabbers did 4, yes 4 tires in the first morning. I know some other people who fitted them, and whilst they seem to be very good on the road, they were wholly unimpressed off road.

The BFG AT's are more expensive, but in my opinion, are massively stronger, and don't appear to wear. I also have the BFG Mud Terrains, and whilst they are great off road, they are noticeably noisier on the road, "entertaining", if making progress, especially need to be careful in the wet, and if braking briskly.

I have only had them on for a few months, but they have visibly worn, and I wouldn't recommend them unless you either do a big % of your driving off road, or are prepared to replace them more often. I'm going to switch back to the BFG AT's, and keep the MT's for the off roading weekends.

Most of the tips here for BFG etc won't come in 19" but the most useful tyre to fit is GG AT2's which still are only a 50/50 tyre. Some say the sidewalls are very thin so if you do a bit of sharp surfaces they can ruin easily.

Have run General Grabber AT's on my Range Rover for 2 years now, very impressed with wear rate & noise on road is minimal. Off road they are pretty good for a 50/50 tyre & quite good in snow although my other set of Goodyear Wrangler Mud Terrains get put on for winter use usually.

just put a new set of Grabbers on my Ranger the last set of AT2s did 60,000 miles great off road too

Ran GG's on my Shogun for a year (just sold it) and have no complaints.Minimal wear, and no problems when off road. They was a wee bit more noise than the Toyo HT's, but that was expected.

My pal runs a RR with the GG's on, and has been very impressed.
