Good stalking boots to buy

Ive been knocking about in some Hi-Tec Ravine boots for the last 18months, well made, very comfortable, good waterproofing so far and they're like £85 a pair.

Not the cheapest here but plent of reviews.

I have a pair of Gateway high boots, great boots with the easy BOA "laceing" system.
Bought them in Glenluce gun room but never seen them anyway else

Just got some Solomon boots which are rated very highly in reviews as replacement to my current worn out altbergs

Very comfortable and warm (two weeks in no complaints whatsoever )

Any of the current issued boots are good if you don’t want to spend a fortune. Karrimor SF if you want a high/cold weather boot. The lower boots such as the AKU are good for milder conditions. My all time favourites are Matterhorn or Danner, but they aren’t cheap.

Asolo are great quality and last, but I don’t think they make a tall boot. Salomon are excellent and fit my feet really well - I wear a pair, but not for shooting. My Hunter leather 10 inch stalking boots spectacularly fell apart today (dreadful boots) so I’m also looking at a new pair. Crispi maybe. Or Haix or Lowa?? Does anybody have any experience of Brandecosse??

I use Altberg - work in them and I’m at work a lot - they are used but get looked after reasonable well. Soles last about 2 years, you can get them resoled. Im on my 3rd or 4th pair.

Im probably going to get a pair of altbergs as my next out of work boots. Equally support British manufacturing.

Use scarpa - outside work - they are good - they have been abused not cared for I reckon they will last 2 years in there current state. They are used for dog walks, shooting, and mucking out duties.

Previously used Meindl - had two pairs, they have lasted five years each - awesome boots - last time I looked the quality wasn’t what it was.

If I had to pick a boot for stalking in - Altberg - either their military brown ones or most likely civilian outdoor ones they do.

Lowa hunting boots I have just now also use Haix as work boot, Haix have taken some punishment standing in concrete and general abuse over 4 years and are still dry and comfortable

Don’t be put off by how cheap they are, I’ve had Meindl, Lowa and Altberg boots and the Grisport are up there in terms of quality workmanship, comfortable straight out the box, warm and waterproof, best boot bargain out there bar none

These are £119 and with a 7 day trial on Amazon, just ordered some after my Deditos gave up the ghost (was not impressed!). I just can’t stomach £300 for meindle, with varying reports of quality!

For me it has to be iturri cold wet weather. I have tried many makers but these straight out of the box are perfect 👍🏻

Is the fit true to size & how does the width seem?

I’ve given up with running repairs and consigned my useless Chinese-manufactured Hunter 10 inch stalking boots to the bin. I’ve compared lots of different boots and having taken on board the recommendations here I’ve just placed an order for a pair of Haix Nature 2 GTX. I prefer the height of the taller Nature 1, but wanted the thicker leather and stiffer sole of the Nature 2. Let’s hope it’s a sound investment.
