That’s a good price for Elmax. I got a quote recently for a sheet , way more expensive than other steels , I know as use them too. But if you want a steel that will hold an edge, specifically where deer or plains game are concerned, you won’t beat it.

Compared to probably most popular steel in UK - Aeb-l, Elmax is around 3 times more expensive, 35/kg to 110/kg. Maybe your supplier offers a better prices for Elmax, I took data from Gfs. That's definitely a better steel than Aeb-l or even cheeper sf100, if we talking about edge retention and I'm not saying that, coz those 2 knives in this post are made from Elmax - that's still the cheapest steel I'm using for my projects.

I thought mammoth was not legal to trade
You are right, as I remember it's to prevent elephant ivory laundering. Simply real ivory has been listed as legal to trade mammoth ivory or even bovine bone , that's what act been extended, but you don't have to be a specialist to see those 2 are completely different. Tooth /molar, bones of mammoth are still ok.

legal as Mammoth is extinct,

Yes, about three times more expensive, sometimes more , just depends on the mill price at a given time as it fluctuates. As I say, knives you have here represent great value for such a great steel. 👍

Thank you for your comment yesterday, I must say that bumped up my post and coused some traffic and reactions. Usually nothing is going on under my listings - the reason is my "high popularity" 🤣
I'm waiting for your work made from Vanax, another great steel.
