Apparently the Jehovah's don't do Halloween.

Ironic they don't appreciate a 'festival' which involves turning up on people's doorstep uninvited..

30 years ago I was cleaning a shotgun when the doorbell rang answered door with gun in hand look on jehovah familys faces was priceless

But if you fully consider their position from the perspective of someone given of Christian values whatsoever the preferred Church, its damn difficult to fault their logic that equates to "there's enough evil in the world without celebrating it".

Of course the Supermarkets wouldn't have it any other way.

Bundle of laughs you eh ??

Paganism is just as valid a religion as any off the rest bud, and Halloween is just a Christianised version of a pagan celebration. Hardly a celebration of evil

What it was and what it is are two totally different things.

Today Halloween is just an excuse to demand treats/money with menace. Surely which is illegal!

They banned "penny for the Guy" as it was begging yet allow this ridiculous "American import". At least with the guy most kids actually had a go at making a guy. Of course the big money stores could not get in on the act so well. I recall a few face masks and that was about it in the shops..

Luckily we are too far out for the crooks demanding treats or money as they would have to walk to far between "victims" especially as there are no kids local. All old fogies down here it seems. The same goes for the Holy Jo's I think in all the years they have lived here they tried twice. The canvassers in elections also don't bother us again too far a distance from the village and not enough houses for them to work so we just don't matter.

Quite agree Rake, sahmain is a celtic fire festival that marks the new year, and to our pagan forebears was one of the most important dates in their calender.

Neighbour told local Lab n Lib candidates to feck off - he has never been bothered by them again, useful trick!

Seems to be a bit of confusion in what's being celebrated here and although my use of the word "evil" was a tad over-the-top, none mentioned to date have the charm of laying torch to a giant Wickerman with one's FLO within and all in the name of fertility!
