Hi all,

I'm based in the north end of West Yorkshire and often find myself up in North Yorkshire too. I'm relatively new to the shooting world, with most of my experience so far being on the range, guided deer stalks, and clay shooting.

I’m really keen to gain more hands-on experience and immerse myself further in the shooting community. I’d love to offer my help to any syndicates, stalkers, farmers, or land managers who might need an extra pair of hands. I’m fit, healthy, a skilled cabinet maker by trade, and always eager to learn.

I'm interested in all aspects of countryside and shooting life — whether it's deer management and habitat surveys, pest and fox control, helping with bird pens, beating, or general estate work.

I hold DSC1, have full insurance, and both shotgun and rifle FAC.

If anyone could use some assistance or would be open to a chat, feel free to drop me a message.

All the best, Sam.

Hello! It wasn’t too long ago I was in a similar situation to yourself.

Best advice I could give you, if can get some time off during the season. 3 weeks to 3 months or in between. Get yourself a Ghilling job. A lot of places crying out for a grafter that can put a shift in. You’ll learn plenty and get to ask plenty questions. If you get a gig that goes into Hind season you’ll probably get some time on the rifle and a beast to take home.

Best thing I did.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to respond and the advise,

I’d love to head up, but a young family and work commitments have that as a non starter unfortunately, under different circumstances I think I’d move up to Scotland, haha.

I’ll certainly have to get my thinking cap on if there is a way to get up and follow your lead!
Cheers Sam
