Hard wearing trouser suggestions

I've historically got on well with shooterking trousers that utilise the cordura fabric.

Due to availability issues, I'm after recommendations for an alternative. Decent amount of pockets and able to cope with a constant thrashing from heather and clearfell.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Merry Christmas all!

I would second Fortis. I have a waterproof jacket and overtrousers that are now coming up 30 years old. They have been through some of the roughest treatment you could ever imagine. As they were originally work issued, they have not been overly looked after. They are still as waterproof as the day that I got them. I agree, not cheap, but they take some beating (literally).

Heck, that's two recommendations for Fortis! I'd best have a gander. Thank you

I like Percussion tradition. Have hooked my nether areas on barbed wire repeatedly for 2 seasons in both pairs and no loss of fertility, facility, or resilience. Haven't patched them yet but they seem capable of wearing bad treatment. Did a wash in waterproof job with nikwax. Seems fine.

Percussion Marley have been good. Paid £50 2 years ago. Not totally waterproof but fairly, takes an hour sitting in a downpour in a high seat to get water coming through but I've stayed dry in shorter downpours. Have dealt with thorns and barbed wire no problem. They make no noise at all when I move. Can be a bit warm as they are lined but fine in winter. Only problem is the gusset has split so I'm trying out Verney Carron next which are similar material by the same maker but have a stretchy gusset.

I use moleskin. usually I use the Higgs of Fife breeks. I beat 40 days a season (plus stalking), over barbed wire etc and get caught up having short legs.
they have no issue with the wire/brambles etc. they stay dry in a little rain, but I wear over leggings when heavy rain expected. old school but works for me

I like fjallraven Vidda pro trousers. Hard wearing, they fit well, and they have done fabric on the knees and seat. In the winter I wax them to give them a degree of waterproofness and then I wash it out for the summer when it gets warm.

Fjallraven for me too. The Barrents Pro are a great winter version too 👍

Leather?
See these not too expensive either I paid 150€ for mine in 2007 and they still look like new, just became softer over the years, they do double duty when I am on the stage with the Chippendales as well.

I wish my fortis smock was waterproof.
Both mine and my stepsons leak at the seams. I have used used waterproof sealants to no avail. Mine was bought at the first stalking show in kelso.

Hagloffs rugged mountain pant would be my recommendation. They are a comfortable, hard wearing, water repellent technical trouser you can wear most of the year round.

Decathlon clothing sometimes gets a mention on here and more often than not gets overlooked as its not as expensive as some of the other stuff out there.
I happened to be near a store a couple of years ago and popped in for a look as i was in the market for a new pair of trousers.
I bought a pair of the robust trousers in the link below and i have to say 2 years on i’m nothing but impressed.
Theres a good covering of bramble in one of the woods i shoot and sometimes retrieving a deer is a mission, these resist it admirably and perform way above the £50 price tag.

Try contacting the Company, my pal had an issue with one of his jackets. It went back and was sorted. It has been fine since.
