HAUSKEN SOUND MODERATORS

Can anyone offer an opinion, from their own experience, of Hausken sound moderators.

I am tempted to buy one to go on my .222 rifle.

They work quite well and provide decent attenuation

They all come pre threaded to M18x1mm and one may alter the thread by inserting a stainless bush to accommodate the thread of your rifle (M14x1, 5/8ths UNF etc etc etc)

The issue with them is if one wishes to change the bush to another thread - they are the very devil to remove without causing damage to the inner baffles.

I know from first hand experience this After being asked to alter a customers moderator,

My point is if you buy one, treat it as non alterable with regards thread size

I have a Hausken Extreme on my 22/250. The Extreme has stainless steel mesh wound in amongst the baffles. To date I’m as happy as Larry with it. I have one on a 7x57 also and it does a great job.

Have 4 at the moment. from 223 to 300wm. They are very good but will wear away internally.
Just received a threaded insert for a different thread, changed one before and tomorrow try another change. Tough to get out as Ronin said.

BTW, changed the threaded insert from M14x1 to 1/2x20unf. No big deal but one must heat the section with the insert vry hot with a flame until the glue starts smoking....

Does anyone know who are dealers in the UK for these? I'm after a 'SD Magnum' for 7mm RM in 1/2''UNF, and can't find many dealers.

Cheers

just bought a freyr&devik for my 308 to replace my wildcat evolution..the freyr is 269 gram and has titanium baffles so wont erode like the hausken or doesn't require tools to strip...they supply the moderators to sauer which are identical but with a sauer stamp and a heftier price tag..very impressed with it so far

I have a Hausken MD45 on my 20 Tac it has been used on my 222 as well.
Personally I don’t think you can beat them for the money.
Quiet enough, light and good value for money. What more can you ask?
