Havalon knives

Our grandparents and those before them had a solution to the problem . They learned how to sharpen or gave it to the tinker that came around .
A good knife, with a good steel and heat treatment and a regular backed leather strop perhaps a bit of compound wont really need to go to a skilled sharpener for a long time and the carrige will easy offset the cost of purchase and carriage off those spare blades .

Gonna be a stretch when you factor in the cost for.the HSAW + F first aid course the cost upgrading your first aid box though 🤣🤣🤣

I ordered a “Kestrel” from USA, this takes the Havalon blades.
I then got Emberleaf to fit it in a nice handle.

You can also get a little plastic holder for inserting and taking off blades, you get 3 in a pack. Much safer.
Very nice customisation! I use one in its original configuration.

A friends wife was taking the binbag out and a workman had put an un-wrapped Stanley blade in the bin. As she pulled the bin bag it bit her and she ended up having corrective surgery

Hi just wondering if anyone is using one of these knives. Are they any good or just another gimmick designed to catch knife junkies
Best knife going in my book, the handles are good but I don't buy their blades , you can get the same blades from medical supplies at 16 quid for 50, I usually get 1 or 2 deer from a blade depending on how careful I am, it's a scalpel so sharp as anything, I like nice knives but these are too handy as I can never be bother sharpening, just use one and bin it,

An old thread, don't suppose you have a link to your reference of using non Havalon blades, as I've ordered simple medical 60cm blades and the cut out wasn't right

A quick google for blades that fit a No.4 handle, not owning a havalon, I think that is right,
the picture of the blade shows the mounting hole.
OK cheers for that, what we got here I believe is a bespoke pattern by Havalon and why wouldn't you😡 the Havalon blade (hole nearest handle) is a little wider than yer standard 60cm surgical blade has which I found out to my cost last season, but thanks for looking... Unless of course anyone has indeed found a match

Friend has one, cutting a red up in the field lost the blade in the meat . Lucky he noticed ,he was switching between knives during the process.
