Bob have you actually looked through an Endurance 30? these are Jap optics and not the crappy chinese Hawke models,I have the exact model fitted to my .243 and have no issues with it at all ,I have owned S+B ,Meopta and a Zeiss Duralyt and to be honest I cant see the difference especialy if you consider the price difference,to the OP if your mate's considering one and is not a brand snob and doesn't want to pay through the nose for a scope tell him to go for it.

I have had one on my 17 hmr, as well as a load of other scopes,

and i think as said: sadly i think they are pants,

i have an older hawke nite eye(singel colour) on my rimfire and i have no probs with it, but im only using it out to 100yards max. Plus the price of them now is high, there some high quality scopes around, 2nd which are amazing buys.

I have used the Hawke endurance 30ir 56mm model on two tikka rifles in the last three years for both lamping foxes and stalking deer at the edge of the forestry-works for me.
