Hearing Protection while stalking

I shot unmoderated with custom digital plugs back in 2000-2010.
I shot approx 1,000 shots but by 2006 I had tinnitus after each shot. I want moderated in 2006 and in 2012ish moved to Peltor Tac XP.
I now literally never shoot without muffs
More recently I’ve noticed tinnitus after one moderated shot with muffs. The old JetZ isn’t the industry leader it once was. I’ve put a big Hausken with mesh on a rifle and it’s literally just the crack. No tinnitus

Looking back I don’t believe a small bit of plastic and silicone rubber can possibly be as effective as thick plastic and foam

The CENS passives were decent. No ringing of the ears when shooting on the zeroing range. Obviously the ambiant noise was also significantly reduced as well meaning I spent most of the day with them on the string and not in my ears.

Did the job. Didn't break the bank. Would get the digital ones if I had the money to spare.

You may be able to get different filters that will cut out less of the ambient noise.
I have custom moulded passive plugs, and initially I was losing too much ambient sound which was affecting my spatial awareness, making me clumsy in woodland. I spoke with the manufacturers and they sent me (FOC) a couple of different pairs of filters to try. They're much better since changing the filter.
